July 4th, Just Another Monday

I could go into deeply how much the 4th of July means nothing to me as an “American Holiday,” and how my ancestors probably spent this “day of freedom,” but I won’t go into that. I want to focus on the good day I actually had surrounded by good vibes.

I have been living in the Bay for almost 6 years and people have come and go out of my life that I had made for myself out here. Whether good or bad. You don’t meet genuine people everyday. People use you up until they no longer have a need for you. But then, you have people who you may not talk to on a daily basis and they still have your back no matter what. I can honestly say I have a few people like that in my life and it is such a good feeling. Especially when you aren’t as open to people entering your life.

I wanted to go on a hike for the 4th of July. I really didn’t want to be in the house. I wanted to let my 2 day 2 strand twist and perm rod set see the world. Kris went on a hike with his sisters to Mission Peak. He didn’t invite me until the morning of, and I had pulled almost an all nighter. I really didn’t want to go to Mission Peak for a hike, like at all! So I knew that bonding time with his sisters was something he wanted and needed. I had got an invite from my girlfriend a few days before to come to her house and eat. She knows I don’t have any family out here and she always welcomes me with open arms. There have been a few holidays I’ve spent with her and her family and I am so thankful for that. Ha, so is my mom!

I went to her house to enjoy some bbq. I really don’t care too much for it. I will eat bbq once a year. I don’t see how ppl can eat it for every summer holiday. Like I can’t! So this was the day I chose to eat it. I tore that plate up too. I was so hungry, and the food was sooooo delicious! We talked at the table as I was feeding my face, and then we were on our way to the Alameda County Fair. This was my first time ever going. I always feel like fairs are too over priced and overrated. This one was no different, but I had so much fun. Just being out with good people and good energy. It was so many people there ! I saw people from college and of course some of the kids I work with. We spent the entire time really walking around. There was so much to see ! The fair food was a heart attack waiting to happen. Loaded baked potatoes, mountain of fries, giant corndogs, fried pickles, just a lot! You can really go broke if your’e hungry and end up there. Then $1 for one ticket. That was crazy ! So we rode one ride all together and it was soo fun! It was even more cool because we watched the fireworks as we were spinning. Just a whole bunch of laughs ! I loved every second of it.

I am so happy I wasn’t in my Hulu and Chill Mode and decided to get out the house. I really would have missed out on a great time. Now I am refreshed and ready to get back to my goals this week.
